Inside St Pancras International train station, next to the Eurostar terminals, you can find the hidden treasure that is Searcys St Pancras Grand.
I popped by after finding a great deal which included 3 courses and a drink for just £28! A deal which is still currently available on bookatable – just click here to find it.
An Unusual Location
When booking the deal at first I was slightly surprised to read that the restaurant was inside the station. On arrival, it did take us around 15 minutes to find the escalator which takes you up to the second floor, but once you’re upstairs it’s easy to spot.
The inside of the restaurant was rather unexpected. Deceivingly large and very extravagant with well dressed waiting staff and beautifully set tables. There is a well-stocked bar at either end as well as a long wine list so you have the option of to go for drinks if you’re not looking for a meal.
Steak and Chips
For the first course, I opted for the tomato soup, which I can honestly say was the nicest tomato soup I have ever tried – extremely flavoursome.
The main course consisted of rump steak with chips, mushroom, tomato and garlic and herb butter. For just £28 for 3 courses and a drink, I was pleasantly surprised to find steak on the menu, and a great steak it was too. The chunky chips which accompanied the meat were also very tasty.
The highlight of the meal for me was definitely the dessert – chocolate device with orange sorbet. The rich chocolate cake was evened out by the light sorbet, and the flavours complemented each other perfectly. I would 100% return here just for the dessert!
The Final Verdict
This restaurant is definitely worth a try, whether you’re passing through the station and needing a bit to eat, or are simply looking for a great restaurant in the area. With a formal but relaxed atmosphere, attentive staff and great food for a decent price (especially with the bookatable deal), Searcys St Pancras Grand is perfect for a lovely dinner with friends.
