A Street of Booze and Food at The Prince, West Brompton

If you’ve visited West Brompton in the last couple of years you’ll have noticed that it’s become a little derelict lately. Heavy construction work due to the redevelopment of the Earls Court Exhibition centres has resulted in local business leaving the area and therefore the boarding up of many unused buildings. However, as of last week, a new kid on the block has brought a new lease of life to an entire street in West Brompton; The Prince.

Pergola The Prince London

The Prince is a new development by Incipio Group, the team behind Pergola on the Roof and Pergola Paddington Central. Incipio has rejuvenated the Old Prince of Wales pub, as well as the four run-down buildings next door, to create an interconnected hub for dining, drinking and cosy Winter get-togethers.

With 800 seats, 2 bars, 4 eateries and an enclosed Woodland Pergola Garden, The Prince at West Brompton is drawing people from all over the city to this unassuming spot in South West London.

The fairytale-esque Woodland Garden was my favourite part of the venue. The Garden is both heated and covered (because it’s England) but still has that al fresco feeling to it, with the plant covered pergola, dim brass lighting and wooden picnic tables.

To complement the cosy decor, the bar is serving up winter warmers such as mulled wine and hot spiced plum cider.

The garden, pub and 4 eateries are connected by a central walkway, so you can do a full-on food crawl, hit the bar, then be back at your table in no time at all.

In true Pergola style, the food is catered for by some of London’s best eateries. Patty and Bun, with their world-class burgers which are taking London by storm, Chelsea’s Rabbit, Peckham’s favourite Thai restaurant The Begging Bowl, and Notting Hill’s Vietnamese BBQ newbie MAM.

My favourite dish of the night had to be Rabbit‘s Toasted Sourdough Soldiers filled with Goats Cheese, Mushroom Marmite and Truffle.
