For me, the best part of Easter was always when the Creme Eggs would hit the shelves and my mum would start stocking up on multi-packs in preparation for when they’d sadly disappear once again. And she clearly wasn’t alone in this annual tradition. Did you know that’s Creme Eggs are the best selling confectionery item between New Years and Easter?
Well this year, Cadbury have given us all even more reason to get buying the tasty little treats, with a certain number of them concealing a coveted white egg which will win the finder up to £2,000.
To celebrate what Cadbury have called ‘Creme Egg Hunting Season’, a ‘Creme Egg Camp’ has opened at The Last Days of Shoreditch in Old Street.
Set inside of a makeshift forest, the camp opens on Friday 19th January and will be around for 5 weeks until 18th February. It looks like Easter has come early to London this year!
Entry is £5 and all proceeds go to youth charity The Princes Trust. Entry includes a 45-minute time slot, hot and cold drinks and one Creme Egg-y treat. Make sure you hunt down the man serving up delicious Creme Egg hot chocolate from his backpack (anyone know where I can get one of these!?).
Venture through the enchanting woodland hideaway to find the secret treehouse, which you can ascend using the stairs and descend using a slide camouflaged inside of a fallen tree trunk.
The campfire kitchen will keep you well-fed during your explorations. Choose your free treat from four different options; Creme Egg cookies, Creme Egg Waffle, Creme Egg fongoo (a pot of melted Creme-Egg with strawberries and breadsticks) and, the most unusual of the bunch, a Creme Egg toastie.
You can even enjoy your food whilst sat around a campfire being serenaded by a bearded guy with a guitar. How very ‘gap-yahh’!
Next, head inside the living quarters for a quick lay-down, or sit at the desk and listen carefully to the crackling radio which may give you a clue as to the location of the hidden white egg somewhere inside of the Camp.
And finally, what’s a London pop-up without a great photo opp!? Nestle into the human-sized nest and snap a photo with two giant Creme Eggs – if only they were real!
